About Me

Welcome,
My name is Sarah Hynes. I am Adult and Child Psychotherapist with experience between educational settings (NUI Galway Student Counselling, Primary Education) and private practice. I am an accredited member with The Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP). My practice is based in Oughterard, Co. Galway.
I hold a Diploma in Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapy which is a body oriented approach to psychotherapy which integrates all aspects of self – how we feel, how we act and how we think and works with both body and mind to bring clients towards wellness. I provide psychotherapy and counselling to adults.
I also have a Diploma in Child Psychotherapy and Play Therapy and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary). I work as a Primary School teacher and have worked as a play therapist with children in schools. I use play therapy with children up to 12 years old and creative therapy with adolescents. I provide psychoeducation, support and therapy to parents. I have an interest in anxiety and how to support both adults and children to regulate and understand their emotions. I have completed further trainings in the areas of adult-child relationships, regulation, anxiety, neuroscience, mindfulness, self-compassion and attachment.
“Come to the edge”, he said. “We can’t, we are afraid”, they responded.
“Come to the edge”, he said. They said “We can’t, we will fall.”
“Come to the edge!”
They came. He pushed them. And they flew.
